History

IVO was founded in 2010 as Simplified Joint-Stock Company (SAS) in France by Ted Werblin, Hans Ott, Kris Morill, Jean-Claude Hoenen and Wilfrid Girard. It acquired Emmetropia Inc. in 2012 which owned the patent portfolio related to the Precisight™ docking station intraocular lens system.

A PMMA prototype of the lens system was first implanted in 2000. Foldable prototypes were tested in a controlled clinical trial with a 2-year follow up from 2008 to 2010. The study revealed safety of the system, no intra- or post-operative complications were recorded. At 9-months, one patient had its front lens exchanged (enhancement), improving refraction from +2.25D to +0.25D.
